Amazing tagline. You should pitch this to their marketing team
The relatively low level of plastic in our testicles
The rest of these comments are surprising because I don’t remember anyone past an interaction we had. Now I’m wondering whose shit list I’m on
“We are the only democracy in the region. We must defend ourselves against this barbaric group who have a medieval world-view.”
“'…Fire up the trebuchets”
Fun fact: for non-Americans, who are most of the world and the biggest contributors to box office take for MCU films, this character and premise is just goofy. The films are fun to watch in a campy sort of way, but I was surprised to hear Americans talk about them as a serious spy thriller series
Unfortunately the MCU model is that director vision is cast aside in favour of producer input. It’s why Eternals looks like an artistic Chloe Zhao film, but is a muddled mess of a story. We were deprived of an Edgar Wright Ant-Man film for the same reason
Eternals. Too many characters, not enough story. It’s also sinfully boring. Not to mention the random Harry Styles cameo that feels like an outtake
They wasted Christian Bale. What a compelling villain he could’ve been if they had actually written a good story
I don’t believe for a second that this teacher can convey information just as well sober as they can drunk. It might not be a crime, but it’s unethical to mess with a child’s one and only chance at getting an education like that.
Adults are allowed all sorts of vices. You can do drugs, participate in orgies, listen to the Beach Boys. But that doesn’t mean you should do any of that at work. Especially if you work with children.
They actually know a lot of stuff is harmless but it’s Security Theatre that was meant to make people feel better about flying after 9/11
No. I had no idea about this instance’s reputation when I joined Lemmy but it’s nothing like the other instance you mentioned.
It gets very tiring trying to have a conversation with contrarians who think everything Western is bad and anything Chinese/USSR is good. Or worse, that their highly suspicious news sources (some random blog usually) are telling you the real truth, while using any mainstream news media source makes you a deluded Lib
They’ve already got you if you’ve been to an airport and, depending on where you live, protest, large sporting event or just walked down a street with CCTV cameras
Controversial opinion: I see more recycled content on Lemmy than Reddit. Comments are usually far better here, but it’s an unavoidable reality that there are less people generating new content here. Especially for niche communities.
Hop on over to the niche communities about movies or particular subgenres and they’re either dead or recycling stuff. Go to those same niche communities on Reddit and you’ll see lots of fresh content all the time. Maybe the main feeds are comparable but if you’re into anything niche that isn’t computing, privacy, politics or gaming, Lemmy can get a bit stale.
Never once had this thought. But it’s all I will be thinking about when I encounter this word
I’m genuinely curious if people actually use the phrase ‘US Americans’, or if it’s a reference to that Miss Teen USA contestant rambling about world peace
It sucks when people gatekeep like that. You can like what you like, even if it’s not the most critically acclaimed music
This guy said something entirely uncontroversial about the only rapper to win a Pulizer prize for his skill in writing and he’s being downvoted to the underworld.
Something tells me a lot of Lemmy users either stopped listening to rap a decade ago or skew in a very particular demographic direction
The fresh prince is an ancient text now. It’s a few lines on the wikipedia page of the guy who slapped that other guy at the Oscars
