  • It’s almost as if the generation that taught us to “decide with your heart”, “do what you love”, “you can be everything you dream of”, etc.etc. has suddenly decided to focus and rule the world by irrelevant talking points instead of staying true to their own beliefs and teaching.

I hope that whatever happens in the next decade at the dying breath of that generation will not set the precedent for following inhabitants of this planet. I, being gen-x, am doing as much as I can to enable people to younger than me to have better opportunities than I ever had. (Union stuff.)

The difference being that I acknowledge that younger people are more capable. My parents generation never understood that. They still cling to the belief that age equals wisdom. Maybe their parents taught them that. There is some truth to it, but he cutting point is a lot lower than they believe. The peak of capability is probably closer to 25 than 80…

Edit. Anyway. The world depends on the American election. Mostly because the world needs USA to be successful in order to maintain a stable balance in world politics. The last Trump period was basically what fucked it up in the first place and I have no expectations of it being any better at a second term, on the contrary.

Please vote for Biden. Sure, he’s old (please attend to primaries next time…) and Hillary was too, but Trump is still the most senile of them all. I get it. It was funny to vote in some jackass to stir shit up, but that’s not really what happened. All he achieved was to play golf and let radical idiots run the place down…

It’s not even about the talking points. He spits in every direction, so it doesn’t even matter. He will not fulfill any of the most modest expectations of any of the talking points whether or not you agree with them. He’s going to play golf and let random asslickers run the place, again. That’s not democracy.

  • Yes, sure it can. Mashed/blended spaghetti bolognese or lasagna are available as baby food.

Baby food products are basically just ordinary food blended and packed in smaller convenient portions. Simply look at the package to see what it contains.

Cat and dog foods are completely different kinds of food, which is often made from animal biproducts and not suitable for human consumption.

I’ve never seen sticky ash. I’ve seen completely beige and brown nicotine on walls, but never sticky.

This is more likely due to cooking. If the cooking hood/extractor doesn’t work right or they just haven’t cleaned in a while, the fumes from cooking will cover everything in a thick layer of sticky fat, which is difficult to get rid of with normal cleaning products.

  • No. It doesn’t work like that at all.

You might as well turn up the volume knob to gain back the lost amplitude. That will maintain the mix that you just set to your liking. Just set it as you like it.

However, if you do boost the frequencies a lot so the signal starts clipping, then it begins to make sense to adjust the faders in relation to each other until it stops clipping and still have the “shape” that you like, and then use the volume knob afterwards again.

For instance, if you like a lot of bass and turn up the bass, then it’ll likely clip. It might be better to turn everything else but the bass down and then boost the volume.

This is mostly an issue for the bass area. Our hearing is (logarithmically) less sensitive to low frequencies, so in order to turn up the bass we have to make it much louder than if we want to turn up the treble. The bass easily takes up the entire “headroom” available in the signal, resulting in clipping before it is amplified. The rule of thumb is that cutting is better than boosting.

Anyway, unless you’re compensating for a bad speaker or similar, it’s generally best to leave the EQ alone. Professionally produced music is already mastered to utilise the entire frequency spectrum in a balanced way so that it can be safely turned up without having certain frequencies dominate the output or to turn it down without losing the details.

Using an EQ post production is somewhat like salting a gourmet meal. Chances are that it’s making it worse unless you know why you’re doing it.

Obviously you can listen to music however you want, but please pay attention to what happens when you turn up the volume. It’s likely that you’ll want to use less EQ as the volume goes up.

    A xylophone has wooden bars.

A marimba is a xylophone with resonator tubes.

A glockenspiel is a xylophone with metal bars.

A metal marimba is a marimba with metal bars (or a glockenspiel with resonator tubes).

A vibraphone is a metal marimba with a motor spinning a disc inside the resonators which can create a vibrato and it has a damper (sustain pedal).

  • “Don’t turn off” is the worst kind of status message.

When it eventually hangs for various reasons, you actually do need to turn off your pc for it to complete or to let it roll back in an error state.

When “just hang in there” is still present on the third day you’ll start wondering why you bought that piece of furniture and won’t mind the consequences of turning it off.
