They were abridged though.
They were abridged though.
You’ve got me, there.
Ok but 38 hours a week for sleep, hygiene? For years? Sleep deprivation alone causes serious mental and physical health issues and don’t just impact the sole individual. That’s deific, and I can see why the gods have issues, and they rest, according to the mythos.
I just don’t see how it’s humanly possible without artificial means and/or serious health consequences (mental and physical). Sleep deprivation is a torture tactic and causes serious issues. Even the gods rest in various mythologies.
I’m not buying 180 hour work weeks, that only leaves 38 hours or so for meals, bathing, etc. I’m not buying 100 hour work weeks for 24 years, either. I am curious what industries need graveyard shift receptionists that aren’t illegal industries.
It was interesting about the sports people, and may or not be believable.
I know. As individuals, our scope is limited. Mutual aid, direct action is probably the best option, for the foreseeable future. In some areas, it’s herding cats.
Eh, the body has been dead, this is just “giving up the ghost.” Don’t shoot the messenger. It is what it is.
Now we have a choice: focus on identity issues, or do what is right for everyone. Good luck, world.
Yes! It was a good movie, too. I need to rewatch that. Sandy doesn’t look like Jodie, I guess my brain just thought drama= Foster.
Thanks so much!
I wish I could remember the film this reminds me of. I thought it was Jodie Foster, but after reviewing her movies, it isn’t.
Lol! You can’t read my mind?
Sorry, I was thinking about the current political climate, recent political developments and how that may change. As someone else mentioned, unless you’re in a few specific fields of employment, it’s not happening.
That people normalize this is maddening.
Your country doesn’t want us, unless they’re going to take political asylum seekers while maintaining 38 of our military installations there. I don’t guess that’s in the cards.
Who’s going to know what HR had in their files, other than HR and whomever instituted a policy requiring things in HR files?
If one isn’t privy to those records, there’s little risk?
Occasionally I run into glitches on various instances, but visiting the original post on the original instance works. Lemmy is new enough that I didn’t mind seeking workarounds, by asking or fiddling around. Best!
Because for all the suffering and horrific ugliness, there is still beauty and joy. The smile of a neighbor, the red-headed woodpeckers and their mates that visit, the stray cat that hangs out, my adult child’s “I love you,” and sharing of joys and challenges. My fur baby’s cuddles, my dear friends’ messages from afar. A walk at dusk in summers, sunsets and sunrises, the sound of rain and thunder, the call of tree frogs, watching deer walk and rabbits and squirrel play. A cool breeze, the taste of water, a berry, home made relish from my neighbors, laughing, crying, and emotions that can’t be articulated but explored. Being at peace with myself.
In addition to the other replies, items there were just too expensive. Now, items are too expensive without the mall, and it’s not to do with regular/mid-low level management, supply chain costs, but due to price gouging, in order to pay executive, board, and and other major share holders/investors. (See the Economic Policy Institute reports on this, for more info).
