3. It won’t change many voters’ minds, but on the other hand if the election’s tight as the polls seem to suggest, a few thousand votes here, and a few thousand who don’t vote at all, may actually determine the election result.

1. The German language doesn’t work well with pun based humour. This is the kind of humour English speakers are used to.
2. They do but you need to be able to speak German to understand the jokes they’re making. Understandably, it’s hard to be funny in a second language.
3. IME German humour is often incredibly dry, deadpan or even anti-humour. In the past I’ve experienced Germans making jokes, and British people thinking they were being deadly serious. Eg. “An Irishman, a German and a Brit walk into a bar. They order beer.” Expressionless face - shit example, but you get the idea.

Old people trip on things.

People who don’t get carpeted bathrooms, underestimate the dangers of slipping on tiles.

It’s no coincidence that the elderly love a carpetted bathroom. It’s less of an issue than it once was, especially if you can afford a cleaner who shampoos the carpet once a week.

In Europe you basically have to be handicapped to not learn to drive manual. Most people get the manual driving license because it allows you to drive both, whereas the automatic one doesn’t.

Manual transmission was and often still is cheaper, often cheaper to repair, often more reliable, often uses less fuel, and in cheap and less powerful cars the combination is often better. Because there are so many manual cars here, including at rental places, it’s a no brainer to learn to drive manual.

This being said, that’s changing. Also, less and less young people are getting a driving license due to affordability and cars no longer being the status symbol they once were.
