  • I’d love to write a really good acid western. So far all I have are daydreams about being a badass old west drifter to the music of Spindrift.

Edit: I suppose there’s also what I started when I tried (and failed) NaNoWriMo, which was a horror story about a pathogen that made people deranged killers of a spectacular nature. There was a fight in a stained glass factory, that was kinda cool. Should see if the laptop with the draft still boots…

(If I recall the movie correctly, it was basically The Crazies, but more violent and written before the 2010 version came out [never saw the 1973 version])

  • A lot of Juggalos take the Juggalo Family thing very seriously.

Doesn’t describe all of the fans, but think about it for a sec - think like the biggest stereotype of a Juggalo. Fucked up home life, outcast at school, not well educated, hopeless feeling, more than average chance they’ve been homeless or dangerously close to it, etc. Then offer them some semblance of feeling like they belong to something, as they are, and are part of something like a family.

For a lot of people, that’s powerful fucking stuff, and most of the Juggalos I know are there for it (whether these were their circumstances, or not) and act accordingly.

Fuckin’ love Juggalos. There’s a demo cd or something for The Wraith album that has a track that pretty much sums this stuff up, imo, if I find it I’ll leave the link. Edit: Found it. Strongly recommend anyone who doesn’t quite get this stuff listen: https://youtu.be/N-i8YX0W_88?

  • Love the worst band in the world, fam.

If nothing else, they’re an inspiration for just doing your own thing artistically. Fuck the critics, just make some shit you’re passionate about, make it available to find its audience, and connect/bring in other folks who want to do the same.

IMO, they created/‘popularized’ an entire genre of music, and some of it’s better than what they put out (for example, I like Twiztid more - but they wouldn’t be what they are if it wasn’t for ICP and Psychopathic Records)

Edit: For those who need a pick me up going into work tomorrow, a little MMFCL for ya.

  • Lol, fair. I’m still not well versed in inter-service ActivityPub stuff. I don’t know if you’ll see this or see any of the parent comments here on Lemmy.

Contingency plans if IA loses the appeal about the library stuff, or in general has something happen that puts IA’s collections at risk of being lost. Any thoughts on the matter? Also cool if it’s not something you want to talk about, I know you don’t speak for the whole org.

How do we archive the archive?

  • 100% agree. It’s a big world out there with people of all kinds, living lifestyles you couldn’t possibly imagine (in both a positive and a negative sense). Those rare moments you get to connect with those people, human to human, are always interesting as fuck.

Every time I took acid in public, I was a magnet for massive weirdos, but every time it’s ended fantastically well.

(Can’t responsibly recommend though, there were very real risks of getting stabbed or robbed a couple times)

  • Having an in-depth conversation with a crossdressing or trans street sex worker at 0100, claiming they were thirty but who looked eighteen at most, looking to do tricks for meth money, while I was outside of a bar on karaoke night on acid.

She showed me her DeviantArt page, which included a drawing of her as a queen on a playing card fellating a shampoo bottle. It was the most fucked up, but interesting drug-addled conversation I’ve ever had. Very friendly, eventually went down a block to another group of people because quote ‘They look pretty drunk’.

Every part of this sounds made up, but I swear it’s true.

Edit: For some reason, I think it’s important to point out this was a Thursday night.
