I’ve been self-hosting a bunch of stuff for over a decade now, and have not had that issue.
Except for a matrix server with open registration for a community that others not in the community started to use.

That is what the data Sim is for that I mentioned above.
I’m super happy with jmp.chat
I was hesitant to try it, but once I ported my number over, it’s the best service I’ve ever used.
It’s $5/month, and your phone calls and texts are forwarded to an XMPP account. Voice mails are transcibed and sent as a text, with the included audiofile. It works over the internet, so you can have multiple phones with the number, and you can use your computer for the service as well.
For data, I use jmp.chats data only esim. It’s $7/year + $5/gig but the data never expires.
I was about to answer this, but decided I didn’t want that information in public.
However, the bank I use, which is a largish one, has an app that I’ve installed with the aurora store without microg or google play services on divestos and it complains that it won’t work without gsf, but it works fine after clicking ok.
That needs to be the British empire.
This is incorrect. What you’d are doing while purely downloading is legal.
Bit torrent exposes you to liability not because you are downloading but because you’re sharing which courts have decided is distributing/performing, no matter how small the block you upload.
This is not an issue with Usenet.
We’ll see if your reading comprehension liabilities extend to self-hosting.
Seafile is extremely easy to set up and does one thing and one thing well.
It does store your data as binaries, so it would be a bit harder to restore than Nextcloud due to that, but I’ve never had an issue with seafile.
Of course, I didn’t have a problem with Nextcloud until an upgrade borked the installation bad enough that even restoring from backup couldn’t solve the issue.
Or, you can skip the unhinged rant, use monocles or dino, and a public server.
Also, hosting a server is much simpler than something like matrix. You can host an xmpp server on a pi and that is more than enough. Or, just use a public server.
So difficult.
I like how you included steps that absolutely aren’t required and haven’t been for like a decade to make your statement more hyperbolic.
Don’t use a centralized chat service. Use a decentralized chat service. XMPP uses the same encryption for it’s e2e encryption, is decentralized, and super light weight for both the server and the client.
Legal definitions in the end are trying to turn a hammer into a scalpel.
They don’t fucking matter for moral judgments.
Israel is committing a genocide to anyone with even a highschool level knowledge of history. Want a simple definition that is very effective?
Any government that intentionally withholds food, medicine, and potable water from a population it considers undesirable is intentionally committing genocide.
Starvation is historically the most effective method and most used method of committing genocide. Everyone knows what the outcome is. Anyone trying to use legal definitions at this point is an asshole genocide denier trying to pretend they’re not.
Like you.
It’s amazing how many of those started with Lennart, too.
